Myofascial Release with Kierra Bertrand, LMT

Have you thought about trying Myofascial Release but aren't 100% positive on what it is?

Kierra Bertrand, Licensed Massage Therapist, offers Myofascial Release in both a 60 minute and 90 minute session.
Myofascial Release is an amazingly beneficial massage that most people are unaware of!

What is Myofascial Release?

Myofascial release is a manipulative treatment that attempts to release tension in the fascia due to trauma, posture, or inflammation. Connective tissues called fascia surround the muscles, bones, nerves, and organs of the body. Points of restriction in the fascia can place a great deal of pressure on nerves and muscles causing chronic pain.
Practitioners of myofascial release employ long stretching strokes meant to balance tissue and muscle mechanics and improve joint range of motion in order to relieve pain.

Who benefits from MFR?

The truth is, just about everyone would benefit from myofascial release.  Keeping our fascial fabric healthy and fit is critical to our bodies performance, and our sense of wellbeing.    That being said, most people wouldn’t know this until their fascial fabric has become so bound up that they have a problem.  Like pain, that is diagnosed as sciatica, carpel tunnel syndrome or spinal stenosis. Or dysfunction that is diagnosed as fibromyalgia, scoliosis, or endometriosis.  The list goes on.  If you have a problem and would like to find out if myofascial release could benefit you, contact us.
We have worked with many diagnoses, some of them are:
  • back pain or neck pain for many reasons ie. spinal stenosis, herniated disc, spondylosis, arthritis, scoliosis
  • shoulder and elbow pain due to frozen shoulder, tendonitis, repetitive strain injuries
  • carpal tunnel syndrome
  • hip and lower extremity pain due to sciatica, plantar fascitis, or arthritis
  • knee pain
  • fibromyalgia
  • multiple sclerosis
  • neurological conditions ie. CVA, parkinsons, head injuries
  • myofascial pain syndrome
  • sensory processing disorders
  • erbs palsy
  • autism
This is not a complete list, please inquire if you have a condition you'd like to know if we can work with.

You can book directly with Kierra by clicking the button, Book Now, at the top of the page!

Rezenerate Facial...at the intersection of BEAUTY and TECHNOLOGY...

6/14/2018

At The Saratoga Day Spa we feel our Rezenerate Facial is one of the most beneficial and effective facials we have on our menu.

Why haven't you heard of Rezenerate? Well...the trend for a long time was Micro Needling. We would apply a numbing cream, use a thick steel needle (similar to a tattoo needle), and you would need a bit of time to heal.

At The Saratoga Day Spa we have chose to go with a pain-free cosmetic alternative to the harsh treatments/procedures that are on the market.

We chose to offer the Rezenerate Facial due to many factors:
  • the results we were seeing on actual clients and on our OWN skin
  •  it is ultra-safe, has no cross contamination (Rezenerate Chips are single use only)
  • amazing absorption rates for nutrient delivery to the skin
  • inexpensive alternative for our clients with similar results to costly treatments/procedures
  • little down time-typically apply make up in minutes after the facial

Be sure to read more about this and our prices on our Rezenerate Page.

What does the Rezenerate Facial do for your skin?

Anti-Aging Benefits:

As you age, your skin loses its natural elasticity. This causes the skin to become thinner and limper, which may result in wrinkles, crow’s feet or age spots. A variety of factors may also contribute to aging, such as genetics, personal lifestyle or sun damage. The Rezenerate facial significantly minimizes fine lines, dark under eye circles and wrinkles. As the proprietary wand delivers nutrients to the top of the dermal layer of your skin, it maximizes collagen levels making your skin plumper, while also serving to reverse the signs of aging. Your skin will appear more youthful after your first treatment. You will notice a more vigorous, softer look to your skin complexion.

Reduces Blemishes:

There are various causes of skin blemishes, from acne breakouts to dry skin and aging symptoms. Most blemishes can easily be treatment with creams, while some may be difficult to get rid of with over-the-counter products. Skin blemishes can have a devastating effect on one’s self-esteem. With Rezenerate facial treatments, the wand delivers hundreds of thousands of microscopic permeation's on the skin, which reduces the appearance of blemishes and dark aging spots. We also use a serum from our Acne line while treating the blemishes with a Rezenerate Facial. you will notice short-term benefits after one to three treatments, and over time, your skin will feel smoother and even-toned.

Hydration for the Skin:

Dry skin can exacerbate many conditions, such as dermatitis, dehydration, flaky skin, eczema and psoriasis. It can also gives the skin a dull and harsh-looking appearance. Rezenerate facials are designed to remedy the effects of dry, flaky skin. After one treatment, you will notice an immediate improvement in your skin’s texture and tone. To improve your results overtime, Rezenerate facial treatments are recommended every two to four weeks. The amount of treatments needed to produce optimal results depend on the condition of your skin.

Rezenerate facials are known to work for all skin types. The treatment is designed to virtually improve the appearance of anyone’s skin regardless of age. Most people who have tried Rezenerate facials noticed that their skin textures emanated a natural shine, smoothness and plumpness.

If you are interested in trying this innovative facial treatment, we will evaluate your skin and recommend the best treatment solution to combat any underlying conditions that you may have.

What is the Rezenerate Wand?

The Rezenerate Wand is a professional-grade, state-of-the-art precision cosmetic tool featuring nano-technology designed to address fine lines and wrinkles, blemishes as well as a myriad of other cosmetic skin issues. It is the future of beauty…TODAY!
The Rezenerate Wand is a handheld skin conditioning tool that uses disposable, one time use only cartridges topped with a specially designed silicon chip.
At Rezenerate, we believe that the technology is now here to give people great results without the pain and invasiveness of a medical procedure. Beauty does NOT have to be painful.

About the Rezenerate Chip

The Rezenerate Chip:
  • Utilizes perfect microscopic pyramids, each 1/3 the diameter of human hair
  • Are single-use disposable chips and are laboratory sealed in clean room
  • Specifically designed for superior results and minimal down time
The Rezenerate Chip has an array of 49 microscopic pyramids etched into it. Each pyramid has a diameter of one third that of a human hair, the tip of the pyramid is 1/10,000 the diameter of a human hair. (See magnified image)
In order to be classified as nanotechnology, one dimension needs to have a measurement no greater than 1 to 100 nanometers (nm). The tip of each pyramid of the Rezenerate Chip is ~10nm in diameter, thereby officially meeting the scientific threshold required to be considered nanotechnology.

HOW IT WORKS:

Rezenerate utilizes the breakthrough science of Nano-Technology and our series of proprietary processes to create what we have dubbed the “Rezenerate Nano-Tech Golden Ratio.”
This “Golden Ratio” consists of the meticulously engineered structural shape of our “Nano Pyramids”; the cutting-edge raw materials used to create the them (a secret formula consisting of 99% mono-crystalline silicon); our iterated quantity of Nano Pyramids coupled with their exact spatial relationship; the specifically designed amplitude of the Rezenerate Chip’s oscillation upon the stratum corneum, and the perfectly calibrated speeds in the Rezenerate Wand and WandPro motors. It is these “often imitated but never duplicated” precision-tuned specifications of the Rezenerate System that deliver consistent results time and time again.
Nano-technology will be responsible for innovations in every aspect of human life…and Rezenerate is proud to be using it to change the face of beauty today!

The Rezenerate Facial vs Micro-NeedlingThe Rezenerate Facial:
+ Cosmetic Facial
+ Revolutionary nano technology
+ No numbing cream required
+ Little to no pain
+ Silicon Pyramid Arrays
+ No bleeding or cross contamination+ Nearly no downtime
+ Low introductory price and limited ongoing costs

Compare to Micro-needling:
– Medical Procedure

– Often bloody procedure
– Long recovery time
– Expensive upfront and high ongoing costs

Dermaplaning...what is dermaplaning? How does it help your skin?

5/21/2018

Want younger, lifted, healthier skin? A great treatment you might want to try is Dermaplaning!

Dermaplaning is not new to the skincare world but many people are afraid to get it done because, let’s face it, the name alone sounds just a little frightening to the inexperienced. Derma=skin and planing=shaving down a surface, which in layman’s terms is exactly what takes place when you go to a trained professional for this simple treatment. Though, when receiving this treatment the client will have no pain and very little to no down time or recovery.  You will walk out of the appointment with glowing, smooth and beautiful skin.

I’m here to explain the process and benefits of dermaplaning and hopefully help you make the decision to give it a try!

Dermaplaning is a very safe, (as long as the person performing the treatment is properly trained), and simple treatment done to the face to give you a highly effective manual exfoliation. Your professional will use a one-time use sterile, surgical blade called a scalpel to GENTLY shave across the surface of the skin. The blade should never enter the skin during this treatment. This technique is pain free and even more effective than microdermabrasion.

In our early 30’s and as we age, our natural cell turnover slows dramatically, which can lead to dryness and sagging skin. We also begin to have more “peach fuzz” on our faces.  Dermaplaning is the perfect remedy to these issues. There are many more benefits such as, deeper and enhanced product penetration and removal of dead skin cells and vellus hair on the face which traps makeup, dirt and oil. Another great benefit is smoother skin! Who doesn’t want smoother skin, especially those of us who have mild to severe acne scarring.

Speaking of acne, a client who is acneic or prone to breakouts should not consider dermaplaning. Those clients would see a possible increase in irritation and blemishes. I’m certainly not talking about anyone who gets an occasional blemish.  A person who is grade 3 or 4 acneic would not be a good candidate.

Dermaplaning is a great alternative if you react poorly to waxing due to things like your skin being too sensitive from Rosacea or dryness caused by a steady dose of antibiotics.
Dermaplaning is a wonderful treatment for someone who has Rosacea and is an alternative to chemical peels and microdermabrasion—which would both be much to aggressive for such sensitive skin.

Dermaplaning is a heavenly monthly service, especially when coupled with a nourishing, hydrating facial or an Osmosis Infusion to increase collagen elastin production, hydration, and reduce redness and fine lines. This will also increase the efficacy of the products being used in your daily routine.

All About Peels...Rebecca Gray, NYS Esthetician

All About Peels!

Want to attain a beautiful, youthful transformation in your skin? Sounds like a trick question.  I mean, who doesn’t? I’m happy to report that it’s easier than you think. Simply incorporate a peel into your facial regimen at The Saratoga Day Spa.

Whether you are looking for smoother skin, radiance, or a more youthful appearance, chemical peel treatments deliver results. I have witnessed first-hand amazing transformations when my clients start a new skin care regimen that includes peels.  The Saratoga Day Spa offers only the highest quality and safest professional products. These products are one of two essential keys to delivering more effective results with less possible side effects.

The second key is depending on great service by a talented esthetician.  Personally, I don’t recommend a peel without a complete skincare consultation including a skin analysis and discussion about your skin concerns and what you would like to see improve.

In my experience, Image Skincare’s mid strength peel is a favorite at The Saratoga Day Spa.  Called the Lightening Lift, this peel treats pigmentation, photo damage, sun/dark spots, and melasma. It's main exfoliant is lactic acid. Echinacea reduces inflammatory hyperpigmentation as well as stimulates the synthesis of new collagen. Coffee and peppermint balance and renew skin cells. Eucalyptus and ylang ylang are purifying, detoxifying and oxygenating to the skin. Kojic acid is the main skin brightener and is supported by bearberry, licorice, and mulberry. Lastly, aloe vera, mallow extract, lady's mantle, arnica montana, green tea, blackberry and comfrey all work harmoniously together to protect your skin's integrity in this all-encompassing, high powered skin treatment.

For the most noticeable results, commit to doing three peels, over three consecutive months. For your first visit with me, I prefer to do a gentle facial treatment and send you home glowing, with home-care products that will prepare you for your first peel.

Your own care and well-being should be a priority.  Schedule time for self-care with an appointment for a rejuvenating peel and you'll find that with regular treatments circulation is stimulated, pores are refined, and skin's clarity, tone, and texture have all improved. You will love the feeling when days later you're indulging in your new skin care routine, feeling silky smooth skin and looking in the mirror and seeing the RESULTS!

The Saratoga Day Spa was created to be a day spa where every person that walks through the door feels welcomed and at home.  Owner and Esthetician,  Kelley Marsh, wanted to open a Day Spa that was not like every other Day Spa she had been to; she wanted The Saratoga Day Spa to feel like an escape for clients.

Happy Easter and Thank You from the Saratoga Day Spa Team.

I would like to take a moment and reach out to every one of our clients, friends, and family who Voted us Best Day Spa in the Saratoga Region 2018.

The Saratoga Day Spa was a year old on November 1st. Everyone told me the first year in business would be the hardest. It was nerve wracking for sure! There were a lot of things to figure out through trial and error. There were many days when I thought to myself...seven years of higher education and not ONE business class. Really?????

But like most things in life when you finally get the right combination of people working together everything else falls in place. That is what makes The Saratoga Day Spa so amazing. Our therapists are all so very different from one another yet that is what makes The Saratoga Day Spa so unique.

Prior to opening the doors of The Saratoga Day Spa, I thought long and hard about what I wanted The Saratoga Day Spa to reflect to our community, and offer its clients. We are achieving exactly what I was hoping we could achieve.

I wanted to create a unique healing environment that nurtures the "whole person". From outside to in, I want clients of The Saratoga Day Spa to have access to a unique, but complimentary blend of services that address their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs-all under one roof! And we are doing just that!

The Saratoga Day Spa is set up to feel like a home away from home, away from your worries. I wanted people from all walks of life and backgrounds, to feel at home when they walked through the door.

We would also not be one year in, Voted Best Day Spa 2018, and thriving if it weren't for each and every therapist we have working at The Saratoga Day Spa. We are a team. A true team and I could not be more thankful to them for their time, devotion, professionalism, and the deep trust they have in me to keep this ship sailing. I am simply part of a greater whole and that was proven this year.

Thank you a million times over to Amy Bath, Felicia Roth, Paul White, Julie Natale, Rebecca Gray, Stacey Horton, Alli Costanza and Jack Treiber!  I appreciate your skills, humor, and love.
Thank you to all of our clients, friends, and family. We wouldn't be where we are without your support.

Thank you,
Kelley Marsh

What is Pennies for Prevention?

Pennies for Prevention is an easy and simple way to give your loose change for a GREAT cause. As The Saratoga Center for the Family says, "Every Penny Counts!"

The Saratoga Center for the Family's programs offer mental health counseling, education and prevention services, and victim advocacy for CHILDREN who has experienced abuse.

The donations we collect DIRECTLY support their programs, allowing them to serve the children and families of the greater Saratoga region.

How can you help?

We will have our receptacle placed in our lobby through the month of April. When you come in for a service drop off the loose change in your purse or bring a couple extra dollars to donate.

The work that The Center for the Family does for our local children and families is pivotal. The team at The Saratoga Day Spa stands behind them and is asking that you do the same.

"Every penny counts"

Stop in if you are downtown Saratoga Springs, and drop off some change!
