Microdermabrasion is a noninvasive skin resurfacing procedure that gently exfoliates or polishes away the top layer of dead skin cells while stimulating collagen growth to reveal healthy new skin that looks and feels smoother. Fine lines, blemishes, dull skin, and sun spots can be improved, especially with regular treatments. Products such as moisturizers, creams, and lotions are more easily absorbed and, therefore, more effective after microdermabrasion treatment. This painless, low-risk skin treatment can be added to your beauty routine.

Microdermabrasion FAQ

Pre and Post Microdermabrasion Instructions

Pre - Microdermabrasion Instructions:
  • Do not use Retin-A or other exfoliating creams 24 to 72 hours (1 to 3 days) before your treatment.
  • Avoid sun tanning or tanning creams/sprays for at least a week before treatment
  • You must NOT have recently had laser surgery or used Accutane
  • Candidates who have had a recent chemical peel or other skin procedure, such as collagen injections, should wait two to three weeks before undergoing microdermabrasion.
  • Prospective patients should also refrain from waxing or tanning the skin to be treated before microdermabrasion treatment.
Post - Microdermabrasion Instructions
To maximize microdermabrasion recovery time and results, it is essential to follow all post-procedure instructions below:
  • Keep the new skin clean and moisturized
  • Anti-inflammatory creams or cold compresses may be used as necessary
  • Use a gentle cleanser.
  • Trauma such as scratching or picking the treated area should be avoided.
  • It is essential to avoid irritating the treated skin with harsh chemicals, rubbing, or tanning for one week.
  • Although some peeling may occur in the treated areas, moisturizers should help minimize this effect.
  • Avoid staying in the sun for at least 7 days after the microdermabrasion treatment to prevent UV rays from damaging your skin, slowing the recovery.
  • Patients who cannot avoid sun exposure should use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher.
  • Do not use glycolic, alpha hydroxy, beta hydroxy, retinol, benzyl peroxide, or topical acne medications for 24-48 hours following treatment.
  • You may resume prescription retinoid products (Retin A, Renova, Tretinoin, Avita, Alustra, or other brands of Tretinoin and other prescription retinoid products (Adapalene, Avage, Differin, Tazorac, Tazarotene) 3 - 7 days after the last microdermabrasion treatment or as instructed by your technician.

How often can I have microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion can be done as frequently as weekly or every eight weeks, depending on your skin's tolerance and desired cosmetic effects. Many people choose to start with weekly treatments for three sessions, then change to a monthly maintenance regimen.

Why do you offer a package of 3 microdermabrasion?

You will see the best results when a microdermabrasion facial is done in a series of three or more. Removing dead cells from the top layer of your skin helps kickstart the cell division in the layers beneath the top layer. The diamond tip of the microderm wand and the suction will resurface the skin and stimulate the blood flow, causing the skin to rejuvenate itself and produce collagen and elastin.
