Hello to all of our clients near and far!

We are reaching out to all of you to ask for your help.
If you are not a local client there are FLAG organizations all over the country that may be helping the community you live in.

As many of you know we have two nurses at The Saratoga Day Spa.

Mary Constantino, FNP-BC, has been working the front lines of this virus 🦠 at Saratoga Hospital ER, Malta Medical, and Wilton Medical Arts.
Rebecca Clarkin, MSNA-CRNA, is a Nurse Anesthetist at Nathan Littauer.

We love our two gals and are beyond thankful for the work they are doing during this time.

I am not one to be able to sit back and not help in some way. It just does not feel right.
I reached out to Nadine Burke, one of the women who started the Saratoga Chapter of FLAG.

Below is what she said...if you are at all able to help out let's do it!
Not only will we be keeping our local restaurants running but we can show all of these front-line workers we stand behind them and are willing to help in any way possible.

You can join their Facebook group to see what amazing work they have done and are continuing to do. FLAG...Front-line association group.

Hello! If sheltering in place and social distancing is getting to you, I want to invite YOU to help make a difference with those on the Front Line fighting the effects of COVID-19. To quote Mr. Rogers “When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping. ‘“

This brainchild comes from a group of Moms in Chatham and Madison, NJ who are making a huge difference in their town. (Check out https://www.flag2020.org/ )

A few local Saratoga women and I have created FLAG (Front Line Appreciation Group) Saratoga. The mission is simple, let's pull together to send meals to the front lines at Saratoga Hospital and give business to our local beloved restaurants.

We need your help! Please use the link below to donate through the Saratoga Hospital website to FLAGSaratoga.

OR Make a check payable to Saratoga Hospital Foundation (Memo:FLAGSaratoga) and mail to:

President Donald Trump signed into law the " Farm Bill" -- a massive volume of agriculture legislation that includes new rules governing growing hemp, as well as billions of dollars in various forms of assistance to farmers. He passed this bill approximately a month ago, we were waiting and are so thankful!

This was GREAT news for us in the skin care and massage business. Especially us at The Saratoga Day Spa! We have been waiting to launch our CBD facial with Color Up Therapeutics!

What are the benefits of CBD in your skincare and massage?

CBD FOR SKINCARE

The endocannabinoid system is critical to the life cycle of basal cells, which make up around 90% of the cells in the epidermis. Healthy skin relies on the body’s ability to grow new cells and discard dead ones. Manipulation of the endocannabinoid system can help regulate the life cycle of cells and when applied topically, it is absorbed directly through the skin where receptors associated with the endocannabinoid system are located. CBD works directly where needed most and isn’t absorbed into the bloodstream, making it a potential therapy for a range of conditions, from dry skin to skin cancer. CBD is more permeable to the skin than THC and more likely to stimulate the cannabinoid receptors, making CBD the popular choice for cannabis-based topicals. It has also been shown that CBD can up-regulate the production of specific peptides that produce an anti-microbial effect. CBD helps to moderate cell cycle and other various cellular pathways leading to healthy cell activity. The anti-inflammatory effects are produced from some of the above-mentioned pathways.

Anti-Aging
CBD as a natural antioxidant is even more powerful than Vitamin C, E, A, or omega 3 fatty acids, which are all also present in hemp oil, making CBD hemp oil a good source for antioxidants. Protecting the skin from free radicals, like UV rays, smoke, and environmental pollutants, is critical in having younger looking skin. Free radicals in the atmosphere cause fine lines and wrinkles; antioxidants protect our bodies from the damage of these free radicals, including fighting the effects of aging. Serving as a barrier to the oxidants, CBD topicals nourish the skin by moisturizing, smoothing and protecting its elasticity. A natural cell regenerator, CBD encourages the production of new cells and aids in removing dead skin cells, giving users the healthiest, most youthful version of their skin.
CBD can also cause change in skin patterns, such as reduction in hyperpigmentation.

Acne
Acne involves the overproduction of sebum, an oily substance intended to protect the skin. Glands in our skin, typically near hair follicles, called sebaceous glands produce fatty oils called lipids. These lipids perform a number of functions, such as creating a barrier on our skin to keep out bacteria and viruses and working to lubricate and waterproof the hair and skin. Endocannabinoids, compounds that our bodies produce naturally and Phytocannabinoids, compounds produced naturally by plants (CBD), play a major role in oil production by regulating the excretion of oil in sebaceous-related skin conditions, including dry skin. Sebaceous glands and hair follicles both contain endocannabinoid receptors, meaning their functions are affected by cannabinoids. Lipid production plays a critical role in both acne (over production) and eczema (under production). CBD works to heal the acne by providing both anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. Working as an all-natural antibiotic, CBD targets the affected area and eliminates the fatty acids and bacteria within the skin. The acne clears up and the scars diminish, leaving you with a clear complexion.

Skin Conditions
Although CBD shows effectiveness in beauty products, such as with anti-aging and acne relief, the elements hold promise in the treatment of a number of more severe skin conditions as well. One study found that phytocannabinoids, particularly cannabidiol (CBD) and cannabigerol (CBG), can control cell proliferation and differentiation, indicating they can be used in novel treatments for skin diseases like allergies and cancer. Through its ability to control cell growth and death, CBD has been considered as a potential adjunct to current skin cancer treatments. Anecdotally, CBD oil works on warts, moles, and even HPV outbreaks because it can cause cell death in these abnormally growing cell groups. Atopic dermatitis (eczema) and Psoriasis have been shown to improve after treatment with CBD.

Benefits of CBD and Skincare At A Glance

Anti-aging – May protect the skin from free radicals, like UV rays, smoke, and environmental pollutants, which is critical in fighting the effects of aging.

Antioxidant – May be more powerful than Vitamin C, E, A, or omega 3 fatty acid, and causes a change in skin patterns, such as reduction in hyperpigmentation.

Acne/Eczema -CBD may inhibit the lipid production in skin cells, making it an effective preventative for acne. It may also aid in balancing out the lipid production in cells, making it effective for eczema.

Anti-inflammatory Properties of CBD may also control the effects of acne and other skin conditions because the skin around the area is intensely inflamed and many of these ailments arise from chronic inflammation.

Moisturizing -Endocannabinoids may play a major role in oil production by regulating the excretion of oil in sebaceous-related skin conditions, including dry skin.

Anti-microbial – May kill or inhibit the growth of bacteria that cause skin infections, intestinal illnesses or other commonly transmitted diseases.

Antibacterial– May fight against drug-resistant bacteria and is highly effective as a cure for such infections.
Antifungal – May prevent the cell membranes of fungi from forming properly, causing fungal death.

CBD and Massage

Commonly Asked Massage Questions

1:
Would a massage therapist who applies your CBD infused product with his or her bare hands get high from doing so?
No! Not with our products as we use 100% CBD and no THC. Also, most massage topicals are not absorbed into the blood so there is no “high” associated with use even with THC. Patients who receive CBD massages only report body relaxation, which is very different from the high of ingesting THC.

2: Is it legal for massage therapists to use Hemp derived CBD topical products?
Yes! CBD derived from hemp is legal to purchase and use in all 50 states because it does not contain THC and is not derived from marijuana. For products that do contain a level of THC higher than .3%, it would depend on what state the massage therapist practices in. Whether marijuana is legal for medical, recreational or both types of use, there are myriad laws regarding the use of THC-containing products and in some states, no regulations specifically addressing topicals. Massage therapists who want to use THC infused products must obtain information directly from their state. All of our products are Hemp derived and therefore they are legal to use in all 50 states.

3: Will Hemp derived CBD show up in a drug test?

To date, topical use has not been associated to a failed drug-test. Even ingesting pure CBD products will not be cause for a failed drug test. As far as research and experimentation have confirmed thus far, screenings test for THC and not CBD.
4: Can I use CBD on pregnant clients?

Currently, the research on Cannabis use (in all forms) during pregnancy is on-going. To-date, there are no direct correlations to fetal developmental problems using Cannabis in smoke/vapor or edible form, and data around Cannabis topicals during pregnancy is non-existent. It’s best to suggest they make an appointment with their doctor or midwife to ask questions about CBD topicals prior to booking a session with you. We have not found anything that suggests it could be harmful, but we always believe that it is better to be safe and well informed. You may want to have them sign a simple consent form.

5: Can my clients fly with CBD products derived from Hemp?

Yes! CBD products derived from Hemp are 50 state legal and can be taken with you or your clients within the United States.

6: What is the difference between pure CBD, Full Spectrum, and THC products?

The pure CBD starts with a CO2 extraction using all of the flowers of a hemp plant. It is in its most crude state at this point, and requires further refinement through fractional distillation to isolate out the CBD specifically. This means that on test, it will show as 99.997% CBD with 0% THC and 0% other cannabinoids. Full Spectrum starts with a CO2extraction as well. but is refined further trough distillation to remove all inactive ingredients and leave you with all of the cannabinoids present in the hemp plant. Once completed it will test at a high amount of CBD with a low amount of THC and other cannabinoids such as CBC, CBG, and CBN. CBD is known to be a very powerful cannabinoid on its own. Despite what some may have you believe, the Full Spectrum is not always necessary or the better option. We do have a Full Spectrum line as well and we recommend one or the other for many different ailments and conditions – we are non-biased from a manufacturing point of view since we do create both options – our information is based on studies and our own experiences.

The Sculpt Pod now offering a 6 visit deal on Groupon!

12/16/2018

If you would like to book a Sculpt Pod session call Kelley directly: 518-320-6239
Please have your groupon available at your first appointment so Kelley can scan it.
Groupon The Sculpt Pod
  • One Sculpt Pod Session: Regularly $119,  Groupon Price $59
  • Three Sculpt Pod Sessions: Regularly $357, Groupon Price $99
  • Six Sculpt Pod Sessions:Regularly $459, Groupon $299

So what is this Sculpt Pod and what does it do??????
During a Sculpt Pod treatment, you will experience our 3 Step Patented Process.
Infrared heat and light is used to stimulate the body’s natural process for breaking down and releasing stored content in the fat cells. While inside the Sculpt Pod, you will experience whole body massage vibration to break down cellulite + stimulate the body to drain its fat cells naturally.

Is it really possible for benefits to be noticed right away?
This one’s a little tricky, infrared can assist with many wellness benefits, and it is true that it may take multiple sessions to see desired weight loss results. However, benefits such as pain relief and detoxification can be noticed after one session. It’s important to note that everybody is different, although some may share similar results, each infrared session is a truly unique experience. Why? We are all unique! Additionally, the condition of our bodies varies day, by day and more sweat may be produced during one session than another. For example, you and your workout buddy may see different results while doing the same workouts but it doesn’t mean you’re doing it wrong!
Treatment Details:

  • Each session is 30 minutes (this includes time to change clothes).
  • Treatments cannot be performed on those who are pregnant or have heart conditions. OR ANYONE WITH METAL IMPLANTS.
  • Treatment attire for women: sports bra/bathing suit top + shorts
  • Treatment attire for men: shorts
  • Refrain from eating 1 hour before & after your treatment.
  • Plan to consume at least one bottle of water after your session - staying hydrated is key to aiding your body in flushing toxins + fat.
  • Sculpt Pod treatments are structured into courses of 6-10 sessions. Your number of treatments is determined by the results you want to see, your requirements and goals. We suggest 2-3 Sculpt Pod treatments a week.
  • There is no recovery period and no down time after a Sculpt Pod session.
  • Often Sculpt Pod results can be seen immediately and improve with every treatment. Over the course of 10 Sculpt Pod sessions, you can achieve dramatic reshaping of the body and reduction and sometimes complete removal of cellulite.

Our clients are loving The Sculpt Pod!
Their needs range from stubborn weight loss issues to neuropathy! They are thrilled with their results so far~
